GAPI Technische Produkte: Company & history

The company GAPI Technische Produkte GmbH specializes in the design, manufacture and sale of sophisticated components and assemblies, made of high-performance plastics (such as Torlon®, PEEK, or PPS), elastomers and ceramics.

We have several decades of experience in processing high-performance thermoplastics, and are the world's largest injection molding processor of PAI (Torlon®) materials.

We support our customers from the idea phase to implementation in series. We are the best contact for the selection of materials, component design of new parts, the optimization of existing systems, and series production.

Part of the GAPI Group

GAPI Technische Produkte GmbH is part of the “GAPI GROUP” with headquarters near Bergamo, Italy. The other companies in the group specialize in the processing of PTFE, elastomers and high-tech polymers, and are among the world's leading manufacturers of PTFE semi-finished products, elastomer seals and O-rings.

Our history

  • 1946 – Foundation of Polymer Corp. in Reading, Pennsylvania.
  • 1961 – Foundation of the Polypenco Society for Industrial Plastics in Cologne, and later in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany.
  • 1960s – Start of the GAPI GROUP with O-ring production and elastomer processing
  • 1980s – Start of Torlon® processing (first cutting from semi-finished products, and later also in injection molding)
  • 1999 – Dissolution of Polypenco GmbH, and integration of the automotive division into the GAPI GROUP
  • 2001 - Relocation to Rösrath, Germany
  • 2006 - Extension of the production capacities by further 5 injection molding machines
  • 2009 - Completion of the second production hall (doubling of production and office space)
  • 2010 - Extension of the production capacities by further 4 injection molding machines
  • 2012 - Expansion of the in-house tool shop
  • 2017 - Expansion of production capacities by another 5 injection molding machines
  • 2017 - Expansion of the tool shop by 2 EDM machines (wire cutting, die-sinking EDM)
  • 2018 - Modernization of injection molding production with bridge crane tracks and central material supply.
  • 2018/19 - Expansion of the tool shop by a 5-axis machining center and a lathe with driven tools.
  • 2019 - Expansion of production capacities by another 4 injection molding machines with multi-axis HG.
